Fiat 500 Coupe Zagato to go in to production
When we counted up the number of cars that appeared at the Geneva Motor Show this year it came to over 200. Not all the cars were new arrivals and many were a bit dull. But one we did miss was this rather appealing Concept Fiat 500 – the Fiat 500 Coupe Zagato – which is not just a Zagato take on the 500 but an entirely new Fiat 500 shape – the 500 Coupe.
The McLaren P11 will be the first of McLaren Automotive's new cars in 2011
The whole road car business at McLaren is to be made an independent company – McLaren Automotive – and is aiming to produce 1,000 cars a year by 2011 and 4,000 a year by 2015. McLaren plans that the cars they produce will be more exclusive, and more expensive, than the competition from Italy. The ball will start rolling with the McLaren P11, a car aimed squarely at the F430/Gallardo market.

Mainstream car makers have always tried to add some glitz and gloss to their models by tagging on a badge they thought made their cars more exclusive. Like Ford with endless ‘Ghia’ models sitting at the top of the Ford range after they bought Ghia of Turin in 1970. Ford continued to use the Ghia badge to mark out its best-equipped models until very recently (you could still buy a Fiesta Ghia as recently as 2008) but they finally dropped the badge and moved their top of the tree badge over to the ‘Titanium’ moniker.
